As Walter McCormick pointed out in the INDUSTRY View article , the information
superhighway and the superhighway are tightly linked. One carries the goods. The
other carries the information we need to function in our modern world. Still, purchasing
or upgrading a computer can be confusing and frustrating. Until now, that is. Through a
special arrangement with Dell Computer Corporation, qualified Bridgestone customers can
now purchase or lease computer equipment from one of the biggest computer systems companies in the world – at very attractive prices.

Dell Latitude laptop computers, with Pentium II processors running at 366 MHz, are available with optional accessories, including docking stations, monitors and auxiliary keyboards.

How does this deal work?

If you are either a Bridgestone National Fleet or a Bridgestone National Preferred customer, you may be eligible for special pricing from Dell Computer Corporation.
How do we get started?

The easiest way is to go to our web site (www.trucktires.com), and click on the Dell Technology Purchase Program link. You’ll find a list of frequently asked questions, along with an application.
Just fill out the application and send it to us electronically. Be sure to include your 6-digit
Bridgestone customer number. When your application is approved, we’ll send you the website address and password for the Dell Premier Pagessm along with a toll-free
customer service number.

Are there other ways to apply?

Yes. You can ask your Bridgestone representative for an application, or just call us, at
1-800-543-7522, extension 3794, and we’ll send you one.
What’s on the Premier Pages? You’ll find a selection of Dell desktop and laptop computers, along with information and prices for printers, monitors, modems and software, together with a simple system for online ordering. You’ll be able to choose a system, configure it the way you like, check the price, and place an order. If you prefer, you can place your order by phone, using the special toll-free number for Dell Customer Service.

Do we have to spec our own computer?

Only if you want to. Dell has provided some options. You can choose from several Dell desktop or laptop units that have been configured for either best value or best performance, and that are available with either Windows NT or Windows 98 operating systems.
You can pick a system right off the menu, or customize one yourself. Or, pick a system, then look at options, like upgrading the monitor, or adding a printer, modem or software.

What if we need help deciding what to order?

Call the toll-free number for Dell customer service and tech support. They’ll be happy to help you find the best system for you.

How do we pay for all this?

There are a number of options: use a credit card, using either through Dell’s secure site or by providing your number via phone or FAX, or use a pre-approved purchase order. Call your Dell customer service representative for details.

Can we lease?

Absolutely. Leases with 24 to 48 month terms are available through Dell Financial Services. Again, details are available on the web site, or from your Dell representative.

How long will it take to get our computer?

It depends on what you choose and how it’s configured, but generally, it will take a week to two weeks to build and test your system, plus time for shipping. And even on shipping you have options, including overnight or second day service, besides low cost ground delivery.
Our computer has to be “built”?

Part of the key to Dell’s success is that every system is custom-built for every customer. That helps keep prices down, flexibility high, and lets you have exactly what you want.

Can we get help with installation? Dell offers installation services through Unisys® nationwide, including system checkout, setup and installation. Unisys can even help you transfer data from your existing computers to your new system.
Editor’s Note: To be eligible for the Dell Technology Purchase Program, you must be either a Bridgestone National Fleet or National Preferred customer. For more information, ask your Bridgestone representative.

And technical support after the sale?

Dell’s toll-free number is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with free support for as long as you own your system. In addition, you’ll find frequently asked questions on the Dell web site at dell.com. You can also e-mail Dell technical support, share with other users on the DellTalksm forum, or visit Dell’s Ask Dudleysm pages, where you can get instant answers to support questions.

Why did you choose Dell? Several reasons. First, Dell supplies the computers we use in our own offices, so we have plenty of experience with Dell, its equipment, and its service. Secondly, Dell is the #1 computer systems supplier in the small and medium business market. Dell ranked 78th in the Fortune 500® this past year, and had sales of over $23.6 billion over the past four quarters. Right now, Dell Internet sales alone exceed $35 million dollars a day!
Dell computers are also the choice of many companies and institutions, including the United States Air Force and Naval academies. We wanted – and we knew you’d want – a company with a track record of growth and success.
Finally, Dell is a new neighbor. In August of 1999, Dell Computer Corporation built a new, 300 thousand square foot manufacturing center near Nashville.

We’re happy to recommend Dell
computers to you, and to be able to offer you this special program.
