NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 14, 2004) - Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire, LLC is introducing three new Bridgestone brand truck tires today – one for each axle position. The new tires, R287 steer radial, M726 EL drive radial and R195F free-rolling trailer radial, are engineered to offer long haul and long regional haul fleets longer original tire life and lower cost per mile.
The new tires will be launched today at BIZCON 8, the company’s annual dealer conference in Chicago, Ill. Dealers will have the opportunity to inspect the new tires, discuss customer benefits and learn about key high-tech innovations in the new products.
“These new tires will be especially important to our dealers and customers,” said Kurt Danielson, commercial marketing director, Bridgestone/Firestone. “Fleets today are focused on cutting expenses, especially cost per mile. With these new tires, Bridgestone dealers can offer their fleet customers proven truck-tire technology that promotes even wear, dramatically extends original tread life and lowers total life cycle costs,” said Danielson.
The M726 EL drive is expected to capture the most dealer attention today because it represents an enhancement of the legendary Bridgestone M726. With a 32/32" deep tread, this new “extra-life” version offers irregular wear-fighting innovation and a tougher tread compound. And as one of the deepest drives in the industry, the tire is built to deliver remarkably high removal miles.
The R287 is new, and its combination of proven irregular wear-fighting innovations is familiar to dealers and fleets. The patented Bridgestone Side Groove™ and Equalizer Rib™ features combat edge and wavy wear in the shoulder and main ribs.
With advances that include a stiffer tread compound, the even-wearing R287 should prove popular with fleets who typically remove steers because of irregular wear, long before they are worn out.
Tough trailer tires built to resist curbing abuse are important to fleets, so the R195F uses sidewall protector ribs to fight scrub damage and enhance retreadability. The R195F’s patented Equalizer Rib™ and Defense Groove™ features promote even wear and long original tread life.
